Retail sales up 5.4 pct in the first ten months of the year

Turnover volume for retail trade, gross series, in the first ten months of the year, compared with the same period from 2017, recorded a growth of 5.4 percent due to increased sales of food, beverages and tobacco (6.4 percent), sales non-food products (6 percent) and retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores (2.9 percent).

On adjusted series, according to the number of working days and seasonality, the increase was of 5.9 percent due to the growth sales of non-food products (6.8 percent), sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+6.8 percent) and the retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores (3.5 percent).

On gross series, in October 2018, compared with the previous month, the turnover rose on by 2.9 percent, due to increases in sales of non-food products (5.1 percent), trade retail of automotive fuel in specialized stores (2.8 percent) and sales of motor vehicles food, beverages and tobacco (0.5 percent).

On adjusted series, the turnover increased overall by 1.3 percent as a result of increases in sales of non-food products (1.6 percent), retail trade of motor fuels in specialized stores (0.5 percent) and in sales of food, beverages and tobacco (0.5 percent).

October 2018 compared to October 2017

Turnover volume for retail trade, gross series, in October 2018, compared to October 2017 recorded an increase of 6.6 percent due to the growth in retail fuel prices motor vehicles in specialized stores (11.1 percent), sales of food, beverages and tobacco (5.6 percent) and sales of non-food products (4.8 percent).

On adjusted series, the turnover volume for retail trade saw a 5.1 percent increase due to the growth registered in the retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized shops (8.3 percent), sales of food, beverages and tobacco (5.8 percent) and sales of products non-food (3.1 percent).
