Renewable electricity producers in Romania received a total of 10,266,855 green certificates in the first eight months of this year, according to data posted on the Transelectrica website.
At the same time, green energy producers generated a total of 5,945,420 MWh, from 1 January to 31 August 2018.
Most green certificates, namely 4.2 million, have entered the portfolio of wind turbine power generators, which have a total capacity of 3,105 MW.
Photovoltaic panels are second, with 3.8 million certificates and 1,361 MW installed.
Hydro power plants below 10 MW have received 1.7 million certificates and have cumulated 342 MW.
Finally, biomass-based producers, with a capacity of 143 MW, received 411,000 green certificates during this period.
According to legislation that promotes renewable energy production, manufacturers receive a free green certificates, depending on the technology they use, certificates they sell in a specialized market for a gain in excess of the actual price of energy.
