Regional contacts mean regional business

Newsroom 08/06/2012 | 08:58

Over 200 companies from Greece, Hungary, Moldavia, Poland, Romania, Russia and Turkey are meeting on June 11 – 12, in Bucharest, in order to develop their businesses by enhancing their regional presence. One of the supporters of the event is Bancpost. Vlad Micu, Executive Director, responsible for the SME Sector at Bancpost explains why the bank invests in such commercial events.

Vlad Micu: Bancpost is one of the oldest brands on the Romanian banking market, with over 20 year of continuous presence. We have witnessed ups and downs in the economy in these years. However, what made us not only cope with the market conditions, but stay current and “ahead of the curve” is the fact Bancpost continuously catered for its clients’ needs. This is actually the base of a sound relationship in banking and it will probably never change. What is different now is the fact that is not enough anymore to have a full array of banking products and services for your clients. In over 20 years of presence in the Romanian market Bancpost had the opportunity to build such a product portfolio. The new way of doing business requires now a proactive behaviour and a modern customer service tool-box. That is why Bancpost invests in support-platforms like GO INTERNATIONAL. We want to proactively generate business contacts and deals for our partners. This is the essence of the GO INTERNATIONAL event.

What makes this event to stand out? Is there enough space for yet another business event?

GO INTERNATIONAL is not yet such another event. The companies that decided to participate to the event had the possibility to choose well in advance which companies do they want to meet and they know who and when they are meeting with. GO INTERNATIONAL means in fact efficiency in resources usage: sending the right people to deal with their counterparties within a specific company, in a place designed for discussing and closing business deals.

What makes you think that this new trade event concept really works?

GO INTERNATIONAL trade event is not at its first edition. We are very proud of the results generated by the previous editions held in Cyprus and Serbia. The success is quantified in over 2800 bilateral meetings established at those events. The feedback we got from the partners of the previous events, the three main export associations of Greece, the Panhellenic Exporters´ Association, the Greek International Business Association and the Exporters´ Association of Crete was also very encouraging to continue on this path.

Why this event takes place in Romania and not in one of the other countries in the Region?

Despite the difficulties in the region and in Europe, the Romanian market maintained lots of points of attractiveness. Romania went through painful adjustments in the past years and the outcome is positive. Companies that participated in the previous editions of GO INTERNATIONAL expressed their interest in business contacts and contracts in Romania. We have now the confirmation of the Romanian participants that we did the right thing to support this event in Romania: over 200 companies decided to register and this is encouraging for us all.
