The Labor Inspectorate in Bucharest (ITM) has fined Realitatea Media for failure to observe labor protection and health safety norms as well as for not giving the due bonuses to its employees, according to dailybusines.ro
The value of the fine applied to Realitatea has not been made public but legally, it is confined between RON 50,000 (EUR 11,670) and RON 100,000 (EUR 23,341).
The control was a result of a complaint made by The Union Of Professional Journalists which was submitted at the Ministry of Labor.
The Labor Inspectorate has observed that, contrary to what is stipulated on the payment rolls, no other bonus except for the bonus for working night shifts are granted.
Thus, Realitatea employees do not get the bonus for seniority (between 5 and 25 percent), the mass-media loyalty bonus (25 percent), and the bonus for working on the days off. They were also not paid for working supplementary hours.
Furthermore, labor inspectors observed that employees were not paid on time. Also, the new employees at Realitatea Media were not hired following a competition.
Realitatea Media required the start of the insolvency procedure recently, in order to be protected from creditors and undergo reorganization.
