RCS & RDS gets fine from National Audio-visual Council

The National Audio-visual Council (CNA) applied a fine of RON 10,000 (EUR 2,300) to telecom operator RCS & RDS for not broadcasting the TV channel GSP TV, which belongs to Antena Group.

The company is also under the investigation of the Competition Council for abuse of dominant position, in which the institution is looking into the causes that led to RCS & RDS’ refusal to broadcast GSP TV.

Antena Group sued the telecom operator in April for not respecting the principle ‘must-carry’ regulated by Article 82, paragraph 1, from the Audio-visual Law nr. 504/2002.

“We are waiting for RCS &RDS to apply the laws in force and introduce GSP TV in the program, as this channel is must carry,” said  Cristian Cretu, Channel Manager GSP TV.

According to the Antena Group representatives, RCS & RDS taxed subscribers for broadcasting must-carry channels, which caused the media company damages of EUR 60 million, claims the company’s management.
