RCS & RDS expands wireless network to the Bucharest underground, allows free access to its Wi-Fi network 1 hour/day

 Telecom operator RCS&RDS is in the process of expanding its wireless footprint to the Bucharest underground stations.

 “By the end of this month RCS&RDS will cover with Wi-Fi and 3G signal 85 percent of the subway stations in the capital, and by the end of November 2011 it will supply, in all the stations of the Bucharest underground, complete access to mobile internet services (Digi Wi-Fi, Digi Net Mobil) and voice services (Digi Mobil),” according to a press release of the company.

 Additionally, RCS&RDS allows any users of mobile devices to connect for one hour a day and without any cost to the company’s wireless network via the network of hotspots, announced the operator.

 “RCS&RDS has continually expanded the Wi-Fi internet network and will reach, on November 1, more than 600 hotspots installed in the largest Romanian cities. The Digi Wi-Fi network is present, at this point, in 75 percent of the Romanian counties,” says the company’s pres release.

 RCS&RDS runs its own infrastructure, providing cable TV, internet, landline telephony, mobile telephony services, having a total coverage of 200 cities and localities.
