Public Finance Ministry rearrangement to prepare the Romanian presidency of EU Council

The Government adopted on Wednesday a decision regarding the reorganizing of the Public Finance Ministry, that includes the setting up of a state secretary job to coordinate the activity related to European businesses from public finance perspective to prepare the Romanian presidency of EU Council (PRES) in July-December 2019.

According to the executive release, for the files from European agenda for which the Public Finance Ministry is responsible, it will organize all the activities that assume the fulfillment of the role of PRES at European standards as well as the current activities performance implied by European businesses. These are necessary to support the national interest in relation with the others state members, the Commission and the Council of EU.

The Government says that Romania will have the responsibility of the current European agenda management at the sectorial entities of Council level (councils, COREPER ad work groups) and will lead and coordinate the dialog with the other European institutions:  the Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council, for the decision process. Also, it will be responsible for the organization of informal meetings in Romania (of the ministries, of the high level functionaries, state heads, general directors, work groups etc).

Within the Public Finance Ministry a new structure will be built – the analysis and research Direction in public finance field. This will be led by a chief economist with the role of general director.
