Attila Korodi, the leader of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) group in the Chamber of Deputies, criticized on Friday the way the Grindeanu Government passed the emergency ordinance on amending the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure. UDMR is an ally of the Social Democratic Party (PSD).
“In the interest of a responsible political class, all parties in Romania must reach a consensus concerning the creation of a legal framework that can form the foundation of a real, correct justice. The current state of affairs is very worrying, decisions of the Constitutional Court shows, according to which numerous articles of the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure are unconstitutional. The Codes must be modified, but not at random. The UDMR stance is that passing law via emergency ordinances is unacceptable, especially in the case of the Criminal Code and that of the Code of Criminal Procedure,” Korodi said in a press statement sent to Agerpres.
