Prosecutors finalize investigation in Sorin Ovidiu Vantu case

The prosecutors of the Bucharest Prosecutor’s Office have finalized the investigation in the case of controversial businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu and the two other people involved in the file, Octavian Turcan and Alexandru Stoian.

Together, the three are accused they facilitated the flight out of the country of Nicolae Popa, former manager of Gelsor, who was involved in the National Investment Fund (FNI) Ponzi scheme that left hundreds of thousands of people without their savings.

Vantu went to the Prosecutor’s Office to see the data in the investigation and upon coming out of the building, he told journalists that his file represents a political not a criminal case.

After the accused study the data collected in the investigation, the prosecutor can build the indictment and send it to court.
