Bucharest’s Local Council has put forth a new project with the aim of modifying the existing rules that currently prohibit pet animals from entering outdoor public spaces, such as parks and public gardens, reports Rador news agency.
Under the new regulations, the capital city will grant pet animals access to all public spaces. This means that dogs will be permitted to be walked in any park or outdoor public area, with the exception of children’s playgrounds, subject to specific conditions. Dog owners must ensure that their pets are leashed or harnessed at all times, and they are required to carry the necessary cleaning materials for waste disposal.
Failure to adhere to these provisions may lead to fines, which have already been established by the Local Council back in 2010. Those who do not properly dispose of pet waste in the streets or green spaces may face fines ranging from 200 to 1,000 lei.
In commercial areas, starting in May, the ParkLake shopping center allows access to all dogs, regardless of size, weight, or breed. However, pet owners are obligated to adhere to a series of conditions. Additionally, the stores that permit dog access will be appropriately marked.
Yet, among the first retailers that allowed access to their premises with pets were Hornbach and Afi Cotroceni. However, the Afi Cotroceni shopping center only permits access for small-sized dogs that do not exceed 15 kg and 50 cm in dimensions.
