President Klaus Iohannis has challenged at the Constitutional Court the draft bill which states that speed radars have to be fitted only on police cars that are clearly marked in traffic.
The president said that if this draft bill hampers one of the legal attributions of the police force.
According to the version of bill approved by MPs, authorities have to warn drivers through special boards that a radar is coming up.
“As a consequence, drivers could understand that on road segments without warning boards they can overcome legal speed without being sanctioned. As a result, the enforcement of road traffic legislation on public roads will be deprived of the sanction component and will abandon its purpose, namely to protect the life and bodily integrity of all road users,” said the president.
