Porsche Engineering Romania, the local subsidiary of Porsche Engineering Group GmbH, announced it is leasing 3,500 square meters of office space in Cluj-Napoca.

The company, which specializes in software development for the automotive industry, is one of the four subsidiaries of the group – wholly owned by Porsche AG, located outside Germany.

According to a company statement, Porsche Engineering Romania leased 3,800 square meters of modern office space in the Vivido office project, due to be delivered next month in Cluj – Napoca. 2,200 square meters will be taken over in the immediate period and the remaining office space up to 3,500 square meters will be taken over by 2020. The transaction was mediated by Coldwell Banker Transilvania, the local office of real estate consultant Coldwell Banker Romania.

This is the largest leasing transaction closed in the last 12 months in the largest regional office market outside Bucharest.

”The transaction concluded by Porsche Engineering Romania is extremely important not only for Cluj – Napoca but also at a national level because it shows that Romania and Cluj secondly are not only a destination for secondary offices or for back office activities and BPO – Business Process Outsourcing. The highly qualified workforce and the general economic growth registered by Cluj – Napoca make the city very attractive for the research and development sector and we expect to see similar transactions in the near future”, stated Cristian Simon, Office Division Director within Coldwell Banker Transilvania.

The new office space leased by Porsche Engineering Romania will allow the company to expand its local team more than three times, a further increase of the number of specialists working in the company being already foreseen for 2020. The company had seven employees at the moment of opening its local office, in 2016.

”Cluj – Napoca is Europe’s Silicon Valley and Porsche Engineering’s decision to develop here is logic. We will continue to develop and expand our activity in Romania, we have already several partnerships with several education institutions in Cluj – Napoca and we want to continue attracting the best engineers in Romania, who want to be part of the team of one of the most innovative companies and develop top software solutions for the automotive industry”, stated Marius Mihailovici, location manager Porsche Engineering Romania.

The company is one of the four subsidiaries of Porsche Engineering Group GmbH – owned by Porsche AG, located outside Germany. The subsidiary located in Cluj – Napoca is specialized in software development for the automotive industry and is an important part of the integrated engineering services of Porsche Engineering worldwide.
