Palplast Sibiu, a member of the Rompetrol Group, will supply polyethylene pipes and fittings for EU funded projects totaling USD 1.5 million.

“EU funded projects for the development and extension of infrastructure will have a positive effect for the company, as well as for the people who will benefit from life standards similar to other EU Members. Another vital segment for sustaining the economic growth is the initiation of programs aimed at modernizing the irrigation systems”, said Dragos Oprea, CEO Palplast Sibiu.

The products are already used for rehabilitating infrastructure and water supplies in Tulcea, Giurgiu, Dolj, Brasov, Valcea, Olt, Bihor and Sibiu. In addition, Paplast is included in the optic fiber implementation projects in Bucharest and Oradea.

The company is analizing the possibility of expanding its export network in Moldova, Bulgaria and Ukraine. The company’s main objective for this year is establishing a strong presence on the local market of pipes and polyethylene fittings.

Palplast, founded in 1994, is one of the main producers of pipes and high density ployethylene fittings in Romania. The products are used for water supply networks, irrigation systems, protection of cables and optical fiber, oil and gas transportation networks. The company estimates a turnover of USD 4 million for 2011.
