Over 80 artists vying to represent Romania at Eurovision 2017 in Kiev

The Eurovision Romania National Selection attracted 84 new songs in the race for a ticket to the Kiev’s stage. Local stars such as Lora, Mihai Traistariu, Florin Chilian, Maxim, Ioana and Distinto, Tavi Colen and Emma, Tudor Turcu, Nora Denes, Cristina Vasiu, Teodora Dinu or Ramona Nerra, but also foreign composers – Swedish, British and American – hope to represent Romania at the contest in Ukraine that will take place in May. Projects proposed by Marius Moga and Adrian Sana are also in the race.

„As in every year, we will ensure our contestants technical conditions at the highest standards for these audiences that will be broadcasted, for the first time, in a series of TV shows on TVR,” said Iuliana Marciuc, 2017 National Selection’s Producer.

The ones passing the first stage will enter the pre-selection: for the first time in the history of the Romania’s participation to Eurovision, the jury will decide the semi-finalists of the National Selection in a TV broadcasted show. The artists will perform in the TVR studios – a mandatory criteria for taking part in the contest – Friday 27, Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29 January, in front of the Jury and audience.

The semi-final will take place on Sunday, February 26, in the TVR studio, while the final will take place on March 5. The winner will be voted by the public.

Alongside Romania, competitors from 42 countries will compete to get in the final, which will take place on May 13 at Kiev.
