Orange Romania posted revenues of EUR 222 million, down 6.3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2010.
“The last two years of economic crisis have impacted the customers’ consumption habits. Even though we can notice a certain improvement in the economic environment, the demand will grow at a slower rate, and in the telecom domain, where competition is fierce, the erosion of revenues will also continue over the next quarters,” says Thierry Millet, CEO Orange Romania.
On March 31, Orange Romania had 10.3 million customers, down 5 percent compared to the similar period of last year.
Orange attained the 3.1 million clients figure in the broadband sector, and will continue to develop this as part of its strategy.
The average revenue per user (ARPU) was EUR 82.7.
“In Europe, revenues rose 1.2 percent excluding the impact of regulatory measures. All countries in the region continue to grow, except for Romania, which reported a decline of 6.3 percent in the first quarter of 2011, and Switzerland, where revenues remained stable year on year,” according to the France Telecom report.
“Mobile services remained particularly buoyant, both in the main European markets and in emerging markets, except for Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire and Romania,” says the report.
