Orange posts EUR 986.8 mln turnover in 2016, reaches 5 mln registered users

Orange, the largest mobile telecom provider in Romania, posted an EUR 986.8 million turnover, up by 4.2 percent year-on-year. At the end of last year, the company provided land and mobile telecom services to 10,388,000 clients, with 5 million of them being registered users.

In the last trimester of 2016, Orange posted a turnover of EUR 259,7 million, up by 3.8 percent year-on-year. According to the group’s financial results, it was the seventh consecutive trimester when the company records an increase in revenues.

In 2016, following a partnership with Telekom Romania, Orange also became a provider of land line services in the urban area, adding to the current portfolio of voice and mobile internet services, satellite television and fixed internet through high-speed 4G technology and optical fiber and cable TV services.

Following this partnership, satellite and cable TV services, Orange Home TV, recorded in total 333,000 registered users, up by 20.9 percent year-on-year in the last trimester of 2016. According to company representatives, the number of downloads and updates of Orange TV Go, the app that offers access.to a wide range of content straight from the phone or the tablet, exceeded 2 million at the end of December, up by 31 percent year-on-year. The average number of active users of the Orange TV Go almost doubled in the last trimester of 2016, compared to the similar period of 2015.

The 4G network was consolidated in 2016, and increased to over 2.2 million of 4G clients. In the past year, Orange continued investment in the network by expanding 4G coverage on the main national roads and highways that connect the capital to the Bleack Sea coast and in the western part of the country, up to over 6,700 localities with 4G coverage.

According to the operator, Orange now operates the largest 4G network in Romania, covering 97 percent of the urban population and 80 percent of the country‘s population. At the end of last year, the number of 4G clients exceeded 2.2 million users, double compared to the end of 2015.

Mobile internet traffic doubled in 2016 compared to 2015, and 4G traffic increased four times.
