PayU Romania, the online player operator, processed during April 2016-March 2017 period online transactions of over RON 1.9 billion, compared with the same period of the former fiscal year.
„The former financial year the online payments in PayU system had the best evolution from the last 12 years. More and more Romanians choose to buy online, the medium value of the shopping basket being around RON 255. The card payment is preferred by Romanians, and the installments payment is more and more popular, accumulating 16 percent of the overall transactions. The biggest online transaction was made via a card registered in Hungary and reached over RON 145,700,” said Marius Costin, country manager PayU Romania.
In 2017, the biggest transaction was registered in January and reached over RON 107,000.
The products from IT&C category are preferred by Romanians who buy online. Approximately 33 percent of the total value of online transactions was allocated to the products from this category.
“Romanians buy online more and more products such as furniture, decorations, toys, books, food, cosmetics and wines. This category named eTail is growing fast, cummulating in the present approximately 35 percent of the overall sales,” said Costin.
During April 2016-March 2017, online stores from Romania registered over 130,000 orders from 200 countries, this being transactions processed via PayU.
