Technology firm Nokia says it will hire another 300 people in Romania, out of which 100 will be in the research and development (R&D) division, as the company looks to boost its operations in Timisoara, where it develops new wireless broadband technologies.

Nokia says that its campus in Timisoara, which currently hosts 1,300 employees, out of which 600 are in R&D, will cover 27,000 square meters following expansion works that should be completed in the first half of 2018 following the third stage of relocations of teams.

Raoul Ros, country senior officer and general manager of Nokia Romania, says that the company is working on the development of 5G, Internet of Tings, cloud and IP and the campus is part of this strategy.

Nokia, which has been present in Romania for 25 years, has invested over EUR 73 million in its campus in western Romania.

Aside from R&D engineers, the company has in Timisoara specialists working for the global networks operation center.
