The former candidate for mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan, announced on June 23 his retirement from his NGO “Asociatia Salvati Bucurestiul” in order to become the new general counsellor at the City Hall.

Dan declared in a Facebook post that he will relinquish his post in the NGO to avoid any conflicts of interest.

“I met hundreds of amazing people with whom I shared causes and it was an honor to work with them. “Uniunea Salvati Romania” is the most important now. Together we can change Romania,” wrote Dan in his Facebook post.

“Eight and a half years is not a short time. I had math projects, I had plans arranged with my family and friends, I had books to read. All left waiting. I don’t know if I can forgive, but I will surely not forget those who forced me to neglect my projects,” he added.

Nicusor Dan recently candidated for the position of Bucharest City Mayor and places two in the election polls, being beaten by the PSD candidate, Gabriela Firea. “Uniunea Salvati Bucurestiul”, his political party, received 15 mandates in the General Capital Council, immediately after PSD, which received 24.
