Spanish company Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles won the contract in value of EUR 107.2 million that has as object the delivery of 16 new subway trains to Metrorex, according to Gheorghe Udriste, general manager of Metrorex.
“The price difference compared to the other competitor, Bombardier, based in Canada, is EUR 20 million,” said Udriste.
The contract spans over 38 months and is financed from a loan from the European Investment Bank and the state budget. The trains have in total 96 cars and will replace some old subway trains that have been running in Bucharest.
