The Romanian Ministry of Culture has chosen the logo that will be used as the visual identity of the celebrations around the 100th anniversary of the Great Union of 1918.
The 13 logos participating in the competition were designed by three companies, namely Pastel, FCB BUCHAREST and BrandNew, which sent their contributions pro bono. The winning logo, named Hora [traditional Romanian dance performed in a circle], which received 234,64 points, “was built starting with two circles connected by the symbol of the infinite. The circles are made from individual dots that are growing and developing. The infinite ‘hora’ created is a live symbol, suggesting continuity together, determination and growth,” the Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
Hora was the jury’s favourite, as well as the public’s, attracting 27 percent of the popular vote. The share of the popular vote in the final mark obtained by the logo is 25 percent.
The competition was organised by the Ministry of Culture, together with the Union of Advertising Agents in Romania and with support from the International Advertising Association and that of the Centre of Excellency in the Study of Image and of UNARTE.
