Authorities from Bucharest intend to close the financial framework 2007-2013 with an absorption rate of European Funds of 80 percent, taking into account that Romania has attracted EUR 3 billion in so far this year, which represents a growth of 20 percent, says Cristian Ghinea, the minister of European Funds.

“ Since the appointment of Dacian Ciolos as prime minister, there were EUR 3 billion worth of inputs in the country, which is an absorption on the financial framework 2007-2013. We raised the absorption rate by 20 percent from November 1 until August 8. At the end of this year we estimate an absorption of EUR 3.4 billion, but the most important is March 2017, when we should close the operational programs 2007-2013. We want to close with 80 percent absorption rate. It can be done if we keep the trend of invoice sending to the European Commission, “ said Ghinea.

He underlined that during the 100 days since he is minister, authorities have launched program guides of EUR 7 billion for the 2014-2020 period budget and since November 2015 there were launched guides of EUR 13.3 billion.

” After I finish my mandate I will sleep better because I succeeded in starting some things: an important program for the reduction of school dropout, in which several tens of thousands of children will receive hot meals, clothes, school supplies. Also, we succeeded in implementing a project to bring solar panels and micro stations in the villages that cannot connect to the electric network, “ said Ghinea.
