The Romanian delegation of the National Defence Ministry, led by minister of defence Mihai Fifor, met with American defence companies Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopters in Washington.
Within the discussions, officials reiterated Romania’s commitment of allocating 2 percent of GDP for defence in 2017 and maintaining this level for the next decade, which will allow the start of some programs necessary for the modernization of the Romanian Army Forces, according to a release of MApN from this Friday.
“Fifor underlined the importance of technology and know-how transfer to the national industry of defence in the interest of regional and international security. Also, he appreciated the good results, both in the country and during the visit at Washington, inviting the profile companies to invest in Romania,” according to the release.
