McCann Bucharest and Publicis Romania bring the first Cannes Lions for Romania in 2016

McCann Bucharest and Publicis bring a great start for Romania in this year’s Cannes Lions competition. At last night’s Gala McCann Bucharest won two Bronze Lions in the Promo & Activation (one for “Go Mono”, client Radio 21, and one for “Bittersweet Pies”, client Paul Restaurants), while Publicis Romania received a Silver Lion for the “ACR Street View Test”, client the Automobile Club of Romania.

McCann Bucharest started the festival with 8 nominations: 3 for “Bittersweet Pies”, the gender equality campaign for Paul Restaurants, two in the Promo category (Use of customer in-store experience and Low-budget campaign) and one in the PR category; the “Go Mono” campaign, for Radio 21, was shortlisted in Promo, “Pay with Blood” for UNTOLD Festival was shortlisted in Promo and twice in the PR category. Also in PR, McCann received a nomination for the campaign “Brave Cut”, client Fundatia Renasterea.

The agency is looking forward to the PR category Gala which will be held today.

The ACR Street View Test by Publicis for Automobile Club of Romania was shortlisted twice, in the Promo and Direct categories. This comes as no surprise, since this new take on how one studies for the Driver’s License test has already won a few awards in regional competitions and was also shortlisted in 2015, in PR.

The agency is also shortlisted in the PR category, with 3 nominations for the “Bernie Speed Test” campaign, in the Costs/Creative Performance PR Campaign, Response/Real-time activity and Public Sector sub-categories.

Also hoping for great results in PR is the “Purity Test” campaign, by CohnandJansen JWT, for the client Aqua Carpatica, previously also shortlisted in Promo.

Romania has also been shortlisted in Cannes 2016 so far for the “Greek Holiday” campaign for VICE Romania, agency Ogilvy & Mather Bucharest, in one of the most difficult categories – Radio.

This year, Romania had a record number of entries: 187, compared to 151 in 2015. Also in the race for a trophy are the Young Lions teams, in Design and Cyber.
