Line 4 metro stations Laminorului and Straulesti, the last two stations that were not yet in use, were opened today.
“It is a long awaited project, a project for which Mr. Director [Marin Aldea, editor’s note], managed to reach the deadline we gave him at the start of our mandate because, last year, when the opening was attempted, not even the contracts for the fire extinguishers were closed,” the minister said.
Line 4 connects Bucuresti Noi in Sector 1 and Gara de Nord, and has a length of 1.9 kilometers. The project was valued at EUR 421 million. The line can transport 50,000 travelers per hour and direction.
Metrorex Director General Marin Aldea said the trains, which are part of the transport company’s old fleet, will function in safety conditions and will be replaced in the future. “They are working in safety conditions, The inside of the trains were modernised, updated and currently are running on this metro line. We have 15 modernised trains in our fleet,” he added.
