Libris.ro invests EUR 4 million in a new warehouse and expects 17,000 orders on Black Friday

Libris.ro, the largest online bookstore in Romania, has inaugurated a new warehouse that triples its order processing capacity. The investment amounts to almost EUR 4 million, and the warehouse will be able to accommodate over 3 million books, so that deliveries can be made in 24-48 hours, and in 2-5 business days during extremely busy times such as Black Friday.

Libris.ro completed its new book deposit in October, the construction of which began 12 months ago. The investment, initially estimated at EUR 3 million, has reached nearly EUR 4 million. The surface of the new warehouse is 5,000 sqm, three times larger than the former warehouse, and allows a constant stock of more than 3 million books, as well as products from the other categories on the website: music, games, toys and other items.

”The new warehouse allows processing of a triple number of orders, up to 10-12,000 daily. We wanted the works and the move to be completed before Black Friday, precisely to keep the short delivery times to which our customers have grown accustomed during this busy period. Exceeding the initial estimated costs was due to both the high quality standards of the building and the security requirements, but also to the investment in the warehouse management software, which would generate an efficiency gain of 20-30 percent. The company has chosen the warehouse management system (WMS) from Senior Software to automate its operations from the new storage space, which will significantly increase the delivery capacity and accuracy of data,” says Laura Teposu, development director and Libris founder.

With WMS deployment and moving to the new warehouse, Libris’s productivity will increase by eliminating repetitive handwriting activities, and optimizing storage space and shipping routes in the warehouse will result in quick identification of items. In addition, there will be a considerable reduction in human errors and a much shorter processing time.

Black Friday on November 16, with discounts up to 90 percent

For the Black Friday campaign, scheduled for November 16, Libris.ro representatives estimate over 17,000 orders. Discounts of up to 90 percent will be applied to a collection of stock-offs and 60-70 percent of the products on the site will have higher discounts than regular promotions.

”We set up a Black Friday campaign with discounts on the bulk of stock products, cuts that will be much higher than those in a regular campaign and reach 90 percent. We estimate that the number of orders placed will increase by at least 30 percent compared to the same period in 2017, thus reaching over 17,000 orders. The optimization of the working process due to the new warehouse, coupled with the courier companies’ processing capacity, will result in a delivery time of 2-5 business days for the orders placed on November 16,” Laura Teposu said.

The goal for 2018 is to exceed the EUR 10 million threshold. After the first nine months of 2018, Libris.ro posted a turnover of EUR 6 million, up 34 percent over the same period in 2017.
