Let’s celebrate: 20th anniversary edition of Romania’s European Film Festival

More than 80 films will screen in the 20th edition of the European Film Festival organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute and taking place in six Romanian cities from 5 to 29 May 2016, notes Film Europe news platform.

According to them, this year the festival takes place in six towns, with four of them (Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Baia Mare and Timisoara) competing to represent Romania as the European Cultural Capital in 2021. The other two towns are Targu Mures and Hunedoara. In Bucharest, the screenings are in Cinemateca Eforie, Cinema Elvire Popesco, Cinema Pro, ICR, Spațiul Public European, Cervantes Institute, Czech Center and Italian Institute of Culture « Vito Grasso ».

“Aside from the most representatives, recent films from the EU countries, this year’s festival sections include Shakespeare 400, Ten EFF Friends (films made by the previous ambassadors of the festival, who are famous Romanian directors), Lux Prize with the finalists of the Lux Prize 2015 (Mediterranea by Jonas Carpignano, Mustang by Deniz Gamze Ergüven and The Lesson/Urok by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov produced by Abraxas Film) and Escape in Europe, produced with the support of One World Romania Festival and the European Parliament Office in Romania”, notes the same film news portal.
