Operational leasing firm Lease Plan increased its turnover by 36 percent to EUR 19 million in the first semester of 2012, while its fleet grew by 30 percent after the company used EUR 27 million to purchase new cars.

The operational leasing market grew by 20 percent in the first semester, according to Bogdan Apahidean, general director of Lease Plan Romania.

“For Lease Plan, the turnover growth exceeded that of the fleet due to sales of returned vehicles in the first semester. Especially, in the second quarter, the delivery of new cars was offset by the ceasing of contracts that lead to a lower net growth compared to previous years, but in line with the business plan,” said Apahidean.

The company has a fleet of 6,900, out of which 92 percent is administered in the full operational leasing system. Around 25 percent of the fleet includes commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tones, while the rest are cars.

Lease Plan sealed deals with E.ON Moldova Distributie and Praktiker Romania for fleet management in the last semester. The company has a portfolio of 170 companies that includes firm in the energy industry, financial services and FMCG.
