Kitsch Museum will be opened on May 5 in Bucharest, following an investment of EUR 15,000. The museum comprises approximately 200 exhibited articles from Romanian kitsch and can be visited in Covaci street no 6 from the Old City of Bucharest.

The new museum is a boutique stile museum, at the second floor of the building from Covaci no 6, next to the room hosting the permanent exhibition, including a gallery where artists can exhibit their works.

The fishes made of crystal laid on doilies, the baubles from the communist period and the carpets with the Kidnapping from Serai theme are part of the 200 exhibited articles that provide an overall image of the Romanian kitsch. It can be concluded from the seven categories that the objects are part of: Dracula, religion, communism, interior design, gypsy, modern and make your own kitsch.

The exhibition is part of the personal collection of the owner of Kitsch Museum, Cristian Lica, made during some years with the help of consignations, profile fairs and collectors, to which recent artifacts are added. The price of a ticket is RON 30.

„For Romanian citizens we apply a third part discount from the price as a solidarity to the fact that they are exposed to the kitsch around them every day. The countervalue of the ticket  is under the price margins of the boutique museums worldwide,” says Cristian Lica.

„In kitsch field I am as specialized as all the others. I don’t think there are specialists in kitsch because there is no science. We’ll take into account the feedbacks and ratings of visitors to make changes or to improve the exhibition collection,” added Lica.
