Restaurants chain KFC has opened in Bucharest the first outlet with a dedicated coffee shop space. Located in the Dorobanti area of the capital city, the new location has a 374 sqm surface, out of which 40 sqm are for the coffee shop area. The total investement for opening the new venue was of EUR 600,000.
“KFC Dorobanti is a trial project for us, since it has a coffee shop area incorporated in the store. The new Coffee & Sweets concept fits it very well. The suggestion to have a coffee shop, especially in restaurants close to areas with many offices or with tradition of spending the time in coffee shop, belonged to our clients in Romania, this being a 100 percent local test. But the results will be considered by our colleagues in Europe,” says Carmen Lupulet, marketing director with KFC Romania.
The estimated turnover for the first operating year of KFC Dorobanti is of EUR 1.5 million.
The KFC network is operated in Romania under a franchise system by US Food Network. KFC Dorobanti is the 41st outlet in Romania, the seventh street restaurant in Bucharest and the 16th in the country.
In December of last year McDonald’s opened the first local McCafe coffee shop in the Unirea Shopping Center in Bucharest.
