The new general manager of state-owned rail freight operator CFR Marfa is Mihut Craciun. His appointment is part Romania’s ongoing effort to appoint private managers and professional administration boards in public sector companies.
Craciun has worked as counsellor to PM Dacian Ciolos since he took office five months ago.
The new head of CFR Marfa has around 20 years’ worth of experience in the private sector. He was sales manager for Romania and Ukraine at Coca-Cola for a decade and has also worked as national sales and distribution director at JTI Romania.
Craciun was also the general manager for Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and The Republic of Moldova at Red Bull, according to his LinkedIn profile. The executive has also worked as general manager for Kandia Dulce and for Selena Romania and Bulgaria.
The appointment of private managers in state-owned companies in done through Government Decision 109/2011 regarding the implementation of corporate governance in public sector enterprises.
CFR Marfa registered a profit of RON 800,000 in 2014, after seven consecutive years in which it posted losses. The financial figures for 2015 have not been made public yet.
