PM Dancila made a work trip to Brussels, where she met with the president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, and with vice president Frans Timmermans.
A spokesperson for the EC said: “President Juncker and Ms Dancila focused on the discussion about preparing the Romanian presidency of the Council of Europe from the first half of 2019, which will come at an important moment for the EU. They also discussed the Commission’s proposal regarding the EU budget, improvements on structural funds and economic policy. President Juncker encouraged the PM to act towards returning to a normal political discourse in the country, especially due to the upcoming EU Council presidency.”
The EC representative added: “When it comes to the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) on justice, president Juncker said that the Commission continues to monitor the developments in Romania and insisted that it is essential that the progress made will not be backtracked.”
PM Dancila also met with the EU commissioners for Budget, Agriculture and Regional Policy, and she also met with Romanian diplomats.
