Greek company Jumbo expands its presence in Romania with a new acquisition in Brasov

Ktenix Enterprises sold MacroMall Brasov to Jumbo toys hypermarket for EUR 4 million. The mal has been closed since 2012 after Ktenix acquired it for EUR 1 million from Carpathian investment fund in 2011.

According to BizBrasov, MacroMall, with has a leasable area of ​​over 9,000 square meters, opened in 2005, following an EUR 8 million in investments made by AWG Macro.

The owner of the investment fund was Aliosa Wagner, a German citizen of Romanian origin, and Dutch Gerard Heinen, who controls Neoart Corp., the Philippine company that produced  the decors for Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. In fact, some of the decors used in the Jurassic Park movie were used to decorate the shopping center.

 Jumbo reached a turnover of RON 400 million in 2017, up 50 percent over the previous year, and it has almost 800 employees in nine Romanian stores.
