“We will build a plant in Craiova to meet the needs of Ford. Expanding production in the current plant of the company to cover this demand would have increased the transport costs from Mioveni in Craiova by too much. The chairs we will produce for Ford are for a small-class car, a more complex task,” said Edwin Zacharia, general manager of automotive experience at Johnson Controls.
The car seat producer already has EUR 150 million of business in Romania and employs 2,000 people in three local factories in Pitesti, Mioveni and Ploiesti.
