INS: Unemployment rate steady to 4.6 pct in January

Unemployment rate was steady to 4.6 percent in January, data adjusted seasonally, the same level as in December, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In December the unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 percentage points compared with November up to 4.6 percent.

In January, men’s unemployment rate was higher than that of women with 0.9 percentages points, reaching 5 percent for men and 4.1 percent for women.

„ The number of unemployed (aged 15‐74 years) estimated for January 2018 was of 424 thousand persons, increasing as compared to the previous month (419 thousand persons), but decreasing as compared to the same month of the previous year (460 thousand persons),”  says the release.

The unemployment rate of adult persons (aged 25‐74 years) was estimated at 3.5 percent for January 2018 (3.9 percent in the case of men and 2.9 percent in that of women’s).

The number of unemployed aged 25‐74 years accounted for 69.9 percent of the total number of unemployed estimated for January 2018.
