Inaki Berroeta is the new CEO of Vodafone Romania

Vodafone Group has appointed Inaki Berroeta (in picture) as the new CEO at the helm of Vodafone Romania. Formerly CEO of Vodafone Malta, since July 2007, Berroeta will take over this new position starting with December 1.

The current CEO, Liliana Solomon, was appointed manager of operations for Europe region, which she will take over also starting with December 1. She will be based in London and will directly report to Michel Combe, CEO Europe region, Vodafone.

“After 5 extraordinary years together with the team of Vodafone Romania, I have accepted a new challenge within the Vodafone Group. I am convinced that what I have built here together with my colleagues represents a solid foundation for the future development of the company,” said Solomon.

Vodafone Romania is the second largest operator on the local market with more than 9.8 million clients on June 30, 2010, according to company data.

Inaki Berroeta is Spanish. He has 15 years of experience in the telecommunication business, being one of the first employees who joined the company in 1995, when Vodafone Spain was still Airtel Movil, S.A.

In 1997, he moved to California where he worked for AirTouch International as information technology manager. In 1999 he joined Global Star USA as manager customer care & billing system. In 200, he returned to Spain and until 2007 he worked in Vodafone Spain as director of Software Development Centre, head of enterprise products and services, and finally, as head of sales enterprise, business unit for the northern region.

He is licensed in telecommunications and has an MBA from Henley Management College, UK

 CV Liliana Solomon
Liliana Solomon is Romanian. She joined Vodafone Romania in 2005 as CEO. She has 15 years of experience in the telecom business and worked in various important companies such as T-Mobile Great Britain where she was chief financial officer, Cable&Wireless Great Britain where she served still as chief financial officer and also in Deutsche Telekom, where she was executive vice-president of the management division. She has a PhD in physics and has an MBA from INSEAD, France.
