The representatives of the International Monetary Fund are not content with the degree of absorption of the European funds. Thus, Jeffrey Franks, the head of the IMF mission in Romania said: “We are very concerned with the absorption of the European funds. We wish to make all the effort necessary to improve the strategy of these financings and we want to work with the government to find some strategies (…). Franks also said “the main challenge is that money will be used before they disappear, before they stop being available for Romania.”

Regarding the possibility of a new agreement for a loan between Romania and IMF, Franks mentioned that talks with the government have not started yet.
