Prime minister Victor Ponta and the Moldavian PM, Iurie Leanca, will be present on Wednesday for the official inauguration of the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline
The two officials will also give updates on several of their respective countries bilateral agreements in progress.
The pipeline can transport up between 1.5 and 2 billion cbm per year, more than the amount Moldova is currently importing from Russia.
Romania’s produces, through OMV Petrom and Romgaz Medias, 11 billion cbm of natural gas every year and imports another 2.5 – 3 billion cbm from Russia.
The republic of Moldova, without Transnistra, imports 1.1 billion cbm every year from Russia. Tranistrian imports amount to another 1 billion cbm.
