IAC Group starts from scratch a EUR 58 mln car components production unit

International Automotive Components Group (IAC) – a leading provider of components of the Ford Motor Company – announced a EUR 58 million investment in a greenfield manufacturing unit at Bals, Olt county. According to company information, the Romanian government has approved a state aid worth EUR 17 million for this investment.

„This strategic expansion allows IAC to support one of our major customers, Ford Motor Company in the global expansion process,” said Jens Hohnel, IAC president and CEO for Europe.

The plant will produce dashboards, door panels, roof trim and various components to support the Craiova plant production.

IAC is the first automotive supplier which will open a greenfield factory in Romania, to support Ford’s operations in Craiova. The unit is situated on a 15,000 sqm platform and when will be fully functional will it count some 400 employees.
