The Competition Council has started an investigation in which it is looking closely into the possibility that Hewlett-Packard Romania made an abuse of dominant position.
The institution has made several impromptu inspections at the headquarters of the company, and the headquarters of some of its distributors.
“We have suspicions regarding a possible abuse of dominant position of HP Romania, represented by a discriminatory behavior in relation to one of its contract partners. This can affect competition on the market of selling office supplies for HP print equipment and related services,” said Bogdan Chiritoiu, president of the Competition Council (in picture).
If the institution decides the accusation is true, HP risks a fine that can be as high as 10 percent of its turnover.
