Housing prices increased by 3.1 pct in Q2 compared to Q1 in Romania

Romania’s housing price increased by 3.1 percent between April and June, compared to the previous quarter, with the local market having the largest EU price increases in Latvia, according to Eurostat.

Both in the European Union and in the euro area, house prices rose at a quarterly rate of 1.4 percent, with the advance in Romania being over two times faster. On a quarterly basis, the fastest rises in house prices of 4.2 percent and 3.2 percent respectively were in Slovenia and Malta.

On the other hand, the only country with a slight decline in house prices was Croatia.

Compared to the second quarter of 2017, housing in Romania increased by 4.7 percent, the advance being slightly above the average of the price increases at the level of the European Union and the euro area, in both cases at 4.3 percent.

The largest annual house price spikes of 13.4 percent and 12.6 percent were registered in Slovenia and Ireland.
