According to Smartree, one of the outsourcing players in the human resources services, half of the recruited persons this year are specialists and middle management representatives, the most searched industries were IT, pharma, retail, agriculture and telecommunications.

The local labor market this year was characterized by a balance regarding the positions occupied by Romanians, being recruited both for senior positions and juniors in different activity areas. The highest offers and demands continue to be in the IT industry.

„This year was a challenging one from the recruitment point of view, being marked by the numerous offers for employees with a significant experience in certain domains. Another trend, which we estimate will continue the next year, is the higher vacancies for temporary jobs,” said Raluca Penes, HR coordinator Smartree.

According to her, 50 percent of the available jobs for Smartree clients were for contracts with a determined period . This thing generated the increase in the HR teams within IT and shared services companies, two of the industries where the number of employees on a short term is in growth.

The candidates’ motivation at the workplace is still a criteria for choosing the employee. This is why companies choose their employees through some benefits programmes, ensuring a motivational environment. The applied instruments are the professional trainings, team buildings opportunities and relaxing services at the office (massage, creative workshops and encouraging a healthy life style).

The HR specialists say there is gap between supply and demand of workforce and the number of graduates of university graduates is decreasing yearly.

„The specialty studies from USA show that the young people born between 1990 and 2000 maintain their job for at most two years, a discouraging fact for the companies with a high number of employees. The companies, especially multinationals, started being more cautious and apply different strategies for personnel retention,” said Penes.
