The Romanian government is planing to issue 8,000 work permits for foreigners who wish to work in Romania next year. The work documents are issued by the Romanian Immigration Office and represent the control tool for the number of foreigners working locally. Out of the 8,000 permits, 5,500 will cover permanent workers, 1,000 will be for workers sent to a foreign subsidiary, 400 for seasonal workers, 200 for interns, among others. In case the number of requests for working permits will be higher than this threshold, the amount can be increase with a Government Decision. The 8,000 authorizations do not include the work permits which are part of bilateral understandings between Romania and other countries.
