The Government is considering to adopt a decision to make August 13 a national day of mourning, in memory of Queen Anne of Romania. Queen Anne of Romania passed away on August 1 in a hospital in Morges, Switzerland, aged 92.

According to government spokesman Liviu Iolu, PM Dacian Ciolos conveyed his condolences as well as offered the Government’s full support to Princess Margareta via a telephone call, on Monday.

„Her Majesty Queen Anne of Romania will remain a symbol of nobility, discretion and dignity, values that integrate the defining contribution that the Royal Family had and has for the Romanian society. Together with King Michael, Her Majesty Queen Anne represented Romania and defended its interests with honor, pride and love for the country, going over all the injustices that the Royal Family had to face,” PM Dacian Ciolos wrote on his Facebook page.

According to Adrian Vasiliu, lawyer of the Royal House of Romania, the funeral will be held, most probably, on August 13. The full details will be made available on Tuesday afternoon, Vasiliu announced.

Queen Anne is survived by Princess Margareta and Prince Radu, Princess Helen, Princes Sophie and Princess Marie and her spouse, King Michael. According to the Royal House of Romania, they were at the Queen’s bedside and King Michael, aged 94, visited Queen Anne at the hospital everyday. Due to poor health, King Michael will not attend the funeral, Vasiliu told the press.
