The Romanian government updated in Thursday the list of drugs that will be subsidized and given for free, adding 13 names of drugs.

According to a statement by the executive, the newly-introduced drugs will be used by patients undergoing treatment for oncologic, hematologic, pulmonological, rheumatological conditions, as well as rare diseases and diabetes.

Some of the drugs will be available to patients in a short time, and others immediately after the expert committees will draft the protocols.

Through this measure, the Government aims to ensure that patients will have uninterrupted access to drugs for conditions in developmental stages that cannot be treated via alternative therapies.

The measure enters force starting 1 March 2017 and was taken after consultations with the College of Pharmacists in Romania.
