Gas imports down 28.7 pct in January 2018; production was 3.7 pct lower

In January 2018, Romania’s gas imports stood at 202,200 tons of oil equivalent (toe), 28.7 percent less than the same period of 2017, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

Internal production of natural gas exceeded 737,000 tep during the month, which was 3.7 percent lower than in January 2017.

According to the Energy Strategy of Romania project, published on the Energy Ministry’s website, the annual production of natural gas is expected to slightly decrease, to an average of 9-10 billion cubic meters in the period 2016-2030.
