A new pilot project for the launch of a new digital TV platform is in the making, according to Mediafax newswire.

Freesat would be the sixth direct-to-home platform in Romania, next to Digi TV, Focus Sat, Dolce, AKTA and Boom TV.

The representative in Romania of the satellite operator Eutelsat, Serban Belenes, required the registration of the Freesat brand at the State Office For Inventions and Brands (OSIM).

The satellite platform currently broadcasts 30 Romanian TV channels among which TVR, the PRO TV channels, the Intact channels, National TV, Realitatea TV and Prima TV.
