Less than EUR 100,000 went into the fourth local Subway restaurant which was opened this Sunday in the Sun Plaza shopping center in Bucharest. The franchise for the outlet was taken up by a local individual, Vlad Gutau. The restaurant covers 51 sqm.
The first local Subway restaurant was opened this April in Bucharest on the Nicolae Titulescu Blvd.The American fast food chain announced at that time plans to open about 40 restaurants inRomaniaover the next 4 years.
Subway restaurants require a minimum initial investment of about EUR 100,000 and cover on average between 120 and 170 sqm for street locations and between 40 and 50 sqm for restaurants inside shopping malls. The franchise tax costs EUR 7,500 and royalties amount to 8 percent of weekly gross sales. Another 4.5 percent goes on advertising.
