Aviro Air, a new Romanian airline company, has just become operational, two years after being created. The airline, which was created by former top employees of the now defunct state airline company Romavia, currently operates charter flights and is planning to expand its range of services and destinations by next year.

Aviro Air was created in 2014 by a team of former employees of state airline Romavia, which went bankrupt in 2014. According to News.ro, the company employed taken over a large number of former Romavia staff. Currently, Aviro Air operates charter flights using two English-made planes.

Created in 1991 by the Romanian Ministry of Defense, Romavia was used by Romanian officials as well as Romanian presidents and had exclusivity on special flights. Over time, the company’s financial situation worsened, in particular due to staff expenses and in 2014 filed for bankruptcy.

Aviro Air has obtained a license for public aircraft transportation from the Civil Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority (AACR). The company operates two British Aerospace aircraft (BAe) 146-300, a model that was built between 1987 -2003, featuring 112 seats and “32 pitch” (81 cm) between seats.

Aviro Air plans to expand its fleet and diversify its range of destinations, which currently includes European destinations and several locations in the Middle East. “By next year, the Aviro Air fleet will increase and will diversify its network of destinations. The goal of our company is to offer our clients good quality services and top performance,” general director of Aviro Air Aurel Bitianu told News.ro. “Our plan is to operate both outbound charter from Bucharest and from Romania, as well as to support Romanian incoming, to bring foreign tourists from several target markets,” Bitianu explained.

Aviro Air has concluded contracts with more tour operators, both from Romania, as well as from abroad, and is currently conducting negotiations with other tourist operators.
