The number of foreign tourists in Romania rose by 8.4 percent to 293,800 in the first two months of this year, due mainly to the growing interest of Asian tourists, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The foreign tourists in Romania came mainly from Europe (219,100, +5.5 percent) in January-February, followed by Asia (44,500, +17.7 percent), North America (15,400, -0.6 percent), South America (2,500, +13.6 percent) and Africa (2,400, +4.3 percent).
The number of Romanian tourists rose by 6.3 percent in the first two months of 2017, to 1.13 million.
“In the period 1.01-28.02.2018, the overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception
amounted to 2,705.3 thousands, 6.4% more compared to the period 1.01-28.02.2017. (…) The net use index of accommodation places was 22.8 percent on total tourists’ accommodation structures, 1.4 percentage points more compared to the period 1.01-28.02.2017,” INS said.
